Dr. Tiedje is University Distinguished Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and of Crop and Soil Sciences, and is Director of the Center for Microbial Ecology at Michigan State University. His research focuses on microbial ecology, physiology and diversity, especially regarding the nitrogen cycle, biodegradation of environmental pollutants and use of molecular methods to understand microbial community structure and function.
Our abilities to keep appraised of the state of the field, and hence the
particular niche and focus of our product come primarily from Dr. Tiedje’s involvement in several federal advisory committees. For example, he serves on the American Society of Microbiology’s Public and Scientific Affairs Board which has provide extensive testimony and advice to agencies on the bioterrorism issue. Hence he is versed on the current technologies, the directions of and gaps in current research and the particular challenges of this potential use.
